Girl Overboard by Sandra Block

Girl Overboard by Sandra Block was very fast-paced and super suspenseful. The main character, Izzy, goes on a cruise with her family and meets a girl her age named Jade. Jade has family issues and is on the cruise with her uncle and aunt, who never wanted kids of their own to begin with, making them despise Jade. To go along with that, Jade has a wild streak in her and tends to get involved with the wrong people. One night, Jade goes missing on the ship and everyone believes she jumped off the boat, except Izzy. Izzy continuously looks for clues to prove that Jade didn’t kill herself and doesn’t stop until she finds the truth, even if that means putting herself in danger. The characters all had a lot of depth to them and the suspense of the book was very good. Each chapter is only a few pages long, making the book extra suspenseful as a new clue is always being found. This book gets 5/5 stars because it was so fast-paced that you never want to stop reading it. The ending is one you would never expect and it is so action-packed that the reader feels like they are on the cruise ship themselves. Sometimes, mystery books can go on and on with pointless clues that don’t add to the story, but this book was not that. Everything was important and Izzy was a great character to follow in the book. Overall, the book was very enjoyable and it was a 5/5 star read.
