My Hero Academia Smash!! Vol. 1 by Hirofumi Neda, is definitely an interesting book to read. With new adventures to new characters that appear and have a back story to tell about. In My Hero Academia Smash!! Vol. 1, Izuku Midoriya, better known as Deku, is born as “quirkless”. In other words, he is born without a superpower. He has to face challenges of how people treat him, especially the bullies. He seems to be always crying due to his sensitive personality leading him to also be the “cry baby” of the manga and the show. Deku’s fate arises with an old video of All Might (A superhero who saves the Earth multiple times with his undefeatable powers.) saving citizens from a monster. That’s when Deku was intrigued to learn how to be strong and unlock new quirks of his own or simply steal them. One time when Deku was just along his way, he was captured by a monster, and All Might was summoned to help. Seeing his opportunity and his fate lie right in front of him, he took his chance and managed to introduce himself to All Might. Thenceforth, All Might began to coach Deku to become powerful. Later on, he told Deku that the reason he only picked Deku to be his student and not any other person was that Deku actually showed interest in what he wanted to do. He was a bright eye student ready to do whatever it takes to become more powerful and successful. Consecutively, All Might also wanted to help by giving some of his DNA to Deku. And how did he do that? By telling Deku to swallow his(All Might’s) strand of hair. And so Deku started to train so that he can control the power that All Might gave him. Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Stars
