About This Book

Eighteen-year-old Ziva prefers metal to people. She spends her days tucked away in her forge, safe from society and the anxiety it causes her, using her magical gift to craft unique weapons imbued with power.

Then Ziva receives a commission from a powerful warlord, and the result is a sword capable of stealing its victims' secrets. A sword that can cut far deeper than the length of its blade. A sword with the strength to topple kingdoms. When Ziva learns of the warlord’s intentions to use the weapon to enslave all the world under her rule, she takes her sister and flees.

Joined by a distractingly handsome mercenary and a young scholar with extensive knowledge of the world's known magics, Ziva and her sister set out on a quest to keep the sword safe until they can find a worthy wielder or a way to destroy it entirely.

“Blade of Secrets” by Tricia Levenseller

“Blade of Secrets” by Tricia Levenseller is the first book in the duology. The main character, Ziva, is a blacksmith and feels much more comfortable around metal than actual people. To add on, Ziva also has an ability that allows her to infuse magic within the items that she forges. When people start recognizing Ziva, and the special abilities she possesses, she starts to build a name for herself within her community. Ziva’s main expertise in forging was creating weapons. Soon enough, a warlord tells Ziva to create an extremely powerful weapon, which she accomplishes. She soon discovers that the weapon is not only going to help keep peace throughout her kingdom, but also is destined to wreak havoc throughout her kingdom. To keep peace throughout the kingdom, Ziva tries to run away from the warlord, along with her sister, a mercenary, and a scholar. Will Ziva be able to keep the weapon away from the warlord and keep peace throughout the kingdom, or will the warlord be able to acquire the weapon. Read “Blade of Secrets”by Tricia Levenseller to find out! This was an amazing book to read, especially if you enjoy suspenseful books. I would rate this book 4 stars out of 5, due to the mystery aspect of the novel. I would recommend this book to those 11-18 years old, but if you are any age older than that and really enjoy suspenseful novels, or books with an adventurous aspect, I can guarantee this would be a great book to read.
