About This Book

One of them was driving.
One of them was high.
One of them screamed.
And one of them died.

When fifteen-year-old Chris Moore is tragically killed in a car crash, Argyle Prep is full of questions. Who was at the wheel? And more importantly, who was at fault?

Eighteen-year-old Spencer Sandoval wishes she knew. As rumors swirl that her ex, Ethan, was the driver that fateful night, she can’t bring herself to defend him. And their messy breakup has nothing to do with it – she can’t remember anything from that night, not even what put her in that car with Ethan, Chris, and Tabby Hill, the new loner in school. Was it just a night out that went very wrong? And is it just a coincidence they were all part of Argyle’s esteemed honor roll, the Headmaster’s List? In a place ruled by pedigree and privilege, the answers can only come at a deadly price.

Set against the glitz and glamour of an elite LA private school, Melissa de la Cruz's first YA thriller is an addictive mystery perfect for fans of Gossip Girl and A Good Girl's Guide to Murder.

The Headmaster's List Book Review

The Headmaster’s List, written by Melissa De La Cruz is a young adult, thriller, and mystery book. It stars four protagonists—Ethan Amoroso, Spencer Sandoval, Chris Moore, and Tabby Hill—four people involved in a fatal car crash right before the start of the school year, resulting in the death of incoming sophomore, Chris Moore. Spencer Sandoval, girlfriend of Ethan Amoroso, wakes up with a broken arm, bruises, and stitches on her face and she can't piece together what happened on the night of the crash. Ethan claims that he was driving too fast, skipped the intersection, and lost control of the car, which led to the accident, but Spencer thinks otherwise. She starts investigating what “really” happened on the night of the crash; she starts to question why she was in the car with Ethan even after breaking up with him that night and why Chris and Tabby—people she barely knew—were in the car with them the night of the crash. I rate this book a five out of five, if I could, I would rate this book a six out of five. This book is a great drama-filled book with plot twists and climaxes consistently throughout it. Melissa De La Cruz, a #1 New York Times Bestselling author perfectly writes this fictional mystery novel in a captivating and engaging way. The outcome of Spencer’s investigation on the case is mind-blowing; it includes a plot twist readers would never see coming, which is why I believe this book deserves a six out of five.
