About This Book

Emmy Award-winning actress Tatiana Maslany narrates a brand-new special edition recording of the first audiobook in the worldwide bestselling trilogy from Suzanne Collins!

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to death before-and survival, for her, is second nature. Still, if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Phenomenal audiobook

The novel, "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins can be accessed on Hoopla and is a phenomenal novel. This dystopian novel has 12 districts with the Capitol in the center. The Capitol maintains their power over the districts and ensures that the districts remain oppressed by forcing the districts to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, which is a fight to the death. The main character, Katniss Everdeen, finds out that her sister is chosen for their district and takes her sister's place in what she regards as a death sentence. As Katniss enters the trials, she faces difficult choices that weigh heavy on her heart.
I would rate this novel five out of five stars because it is an incredible book that has adventure, romance, and suspense. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy dystopian books that have brave main characters who have to make difficult choices. I would recommend that readers over the age of 14 try this book at least once because it is a great book and once readers start reading it, they won't be able to stop until they finish the trilogy.
