Teen Author Talk: The Power of Poetry with Elizabeth Acevedo

Tuesday, July 23, 2pm

Enjoy refreshments, meet new friends, and earn points for summer reading by attending this live viewing of Elizabeth Acevedo's virtual author talk! This bestselling author and poet will read an excerpt from her book The Poet X and then answer questions about her writing process and inspirations.

Attendees will also have the chance to win their own copy of The Poet X! Snacks will be provided.

Create a Decoupage Box! (GR 6+)

Meet us at EB Create and design your own decoupage box. Decoupage is a craft technique in which the artist attaches paper decorations to a hard surface with a clear drying glue. Some people call decoupage "painting with paper," because once the design is dry they can truly look painted on!

An example of a decoupage is pictured. Keep in mind that it does not have to have a floral pattern. We will have paper in all colors and designs so that you can express your own personal style.

Pokémon Club

Join us for Pokémon card trading, trivia games, and more!

This program will be hosted by TAG volunteer Lilian. Available to Grades 3 - 8. Drop-ins welcome. Bring Pokémon cards if you have them!

Create a Modge Podge Candle Votive (GR 6+) REG

Thursday, July 18, 5:30pm

Pictured is an example made by Ms. Sarah. You will be able to cut out your own shapes, or you can use pre-cut squares for a mosaic style look. We will have paint markers available as well.

The project includes a citronella candle -- a natural mosquito repellent. Light this candle while you're BBQ-ing outside or hanging out with your friends to keep critters at bay.

VIRTUAL: TAG Orientation (Gr. 8+)

Join us to find out about volunteering and getting involved at the library! This short informational session is a chance to meet members of the Exec Board, ask questions about volunteering, and get a full walk through of how to apply as a volunteer, sign up for shifts, and log your hours.

Current volunteers are also invited to join us to get a review or ask questions about any aspect of volunteering, such as virtual volunteer opportunities or preparing community service packets for school.
