Hello, parents and guardians of teen volunteers! We greatly appreciate your support and encouragement of your teens and of the library. We ask that you emphasize personal responsibility with your teens, encouraging them to reach out to us directly if they have questions, rather than interceding on their behalf. One of the primary goals of this program is fostering confidence and professional skills in teens so they feel more prepared for college and the workforce. We love involved and supportive family members, but we ask that you give your teens a chance to advocate for themselves whenever possible. If you have a teen who is particularly nervous about volunteering or who needs specific accommodations, we welcome you to come in together and speak to the staff so your teen can get more familiar with the library and the people they will be working with.
If you have a teen with high support needs and would like to know how we can accommodate them, please email teens@ebpl.org with as much information about your teen's favorite activities as possible so we can see what tasks at the library might be the best fit!
You drive them to and from the library, you encourage their love of reading and getting involved in their communities, you look out for them at home and at school. Thank you for taking care of our teens and raising them to be kind, helpful, wonderful adults!
