Wireless Internet Access

The East Brunswick Public Library is pleased to offer the convenience of free wireless Internet access. With our “WiFi” network up and running, you no longer have to sign up for time at a public computer station. If you have a laptop, you may bring it in and surf the Web for free.

How to Use the Wireless Internet at the Library

Most users simply bring their wireless enabled laptop to the library and turn it on. The computer will automatically recognize the wireless network (EBGuest). To access it, connect to EBGuest, and then open your web browser. You should automatically be presented with a logon screen. Simply click the "Proceed" button to login to our network.

After you have logged in, you will automatically be redirected to your home page. A pop-up may come up, giving you the option to logoff of the network once you are finished your session. Depending on your computer configuration, you may get one of the several screens, informing you that you have successfully logged on, and giving you the option of logging off. Logging Off is recommended once you have finished your session, but is not required. Not logging off will not damage your computer.

How does it work?

Wireless access points are located throughout the building that will send the signal which will connect with your wireless device. You should be able to access the network almost anywhere within the building, including the meeting rooms. If you have difficulty accessing a signal in a more remote area, move your device to a more central location to catch the signal. Then follow the directions above.

Passwords

The library network no longer requires a password to authenticate. We have tried to make the process of logging onto our network as simple as possible to get you up and running more quickly!

Can I print from my laptop while using the library's wireless network? YES!

Printing is now available both for Windows and Mac based computers by using the SmartALEC wireless printing service. Please visit the Wireless Printing page for more information.

Can you help me set up my computer to connect to the wireless network?

Every computer and set up is different. Library staff are not able to provide technical assistance for configuring your device to enable it connect to the wireless network, and no guarantee can be made that you will be able to make a wireless connection. If you have difficulty connecting and your device does not automatically find our network, please review the suggestions below or consult the manufacturer of your device.
