A representative from Saint Peter's University Hospital will be in the library lobby to distribute free COVID-19 test kits and information.

 

Healthy Living: South Asian & Latin American Communities

12:00pm-4:00pm

Healthy living is for everyone. Visit the Just for the Health of It! table and pick up some recipes, handouts, and more.

 

DIY Lip Scrub (Teenages Grades 6-12)

12:30pm-1:30pm

Use simple ingredients that you can find around your home plus relaxing essential oils to make your own custom lip scrub! Lip scrubs help gently exfoliate dry skin to keep your lips fresh and hydrated. Use 1-2 times per week and follow with a moisturizing lip balm to keep lips happy during the harsh winter months.

There is no advance registration for this workshop, and we have a limited amount of supplies, so please line up 10-15 minutes early if you would like to ensure that you get a spot.

 

Coloring & Sensory Station

1:00pm-4:00pm

Take a quick break or while away the afternoon at this low-key, sensory-friendly coloring gathering.  For all ages.

 

Brain Health Lecture

1:00-1:45pm

This presentation will introduce the difference between normal cognitive aging and dementia caused by neurodegenerative diseases. It will also discuss strategies to optimize brain health and delay the onset of dementia.

 

Meet the Coordinators of Chinese American and South Asian Mental Health Outreach Programs

1:00pm-3:00pm

Information on mental health support groups, mental health related social gatherings, training, education programs and professional lists will be introduced at this outreach information table event by the coordinators of NAMI NJ CAMHOP and NAMI NJ SAMHAJ.

 

Bollywood Dance Workshop (Adults and Grades 4-12)

2:00pm-3:00pm

Bollywood dancing is an expressive fusion of many different dance forms like bhangra, jazz, hip-hop and kathak, which is often seen in popular Bollywood movies. Dancing can distract you from your negative thoughts and helps you focus on the present. It also improves balance, strength, and has a social component as well.

Naina Geol is the founder and director of Dance4Ever, and is a versatile and accomplished dancer trained by the legendary Saroj Khan.

This event is co-sponsored by the Indian Cultural Society and the East Brunswick Friends of the Library.

 

Meditation with Reiki (Adults and teens grades 6-12)

3:30pm-4:30pm

Reiki is energy therapy that promotes deep relaxation, mental and emotional clarity, and increased well-being. This practice uses distance reiki, which allows energy to act directly reaching each person where they are, for their highest good, whether that is physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, or any combination.

Please bring a yoga mat, throw blanket, beach towel or something to lie on.

This program is for adults, and students grades 6-12.
