Brain Health Lecture
The presentation will introduce the difference between normal cognitive aging and dementia caused by neurodegenerative diseases. It will also discuss strategies to optimize brain health and delay the onset of dementia.
Dr. Michelle Chen is Assistant Professor of Neurology at Rutgers University. She is a clinical neuropsychologist and evaluates patients' cognitive functioning in order to determine the presence of neurodegenerative diseases and offer treatment recommendations. She also directs the Rutgers Neuropsychology Laboratory and studies the role of lifestyle risk factors for cognitive decline and applications of digital health technologies to the assessment and treatment of cognitive dysfunction. Her research spans across multiple clinical populations, including multiple sclerosis, Long Covid, and older adults at risk for dementia, and has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and non-profit organizations.
