Talls & Smalls Reading Practice

This summer, the library is offering kids entering 1st and 2nd grades a special opportunity to practice their reading skills by reading with a teen volunteer, either one-on-one or in a small group.  This limited program will be offered for 6 sessions and is open to participants with East Brunswick library cards.  The program will be offered as six individual sessions and you can register by clicking on the date you are interested in on the library's online calendar.  The program runs Wednesdays, July 10-August 14 at 6:30 PM.

Mindfulness for Kids

Join Laurie Herrick, a health educator from the Middlesex County Office of Health Services, and learn some mindfulness techniques for staying positive, calming your worries, and keeping your cool -- even in the summer heat!  For children entering kindergarten & up with an adult.

Healthy Habits - Happy Kids Storytime & Games

Would you like your children to be healthy and happy? Join our fun and educational storytime to help your kids establish healthy habits early in childhood.

Each month we explore a different health topic through songs, cartoons, storytime, games or craft activities.

The topic in June is Exercise, Fitness and Summer Safety. Enjoy a puppet show storytime about how Froggy and his Dad celebrated Father's Day and have fun playing bowling, cornhole, ring toss and other screen-free summer games.

Board Games and Brunch

Join the staff of NJ4S for a morning filled with family, fun, and food!  Refreshments will be served, but if your family has any dietary restrictions, you are welcome to bring something just to be safe.  For kids entering kindergarten and up, with an adult.

Dog Squad

Smartest Kid in the Universe series

The Smartest Kid in the Universe by Chris Grabenstein is an action-adventure book about a middle schooler named Jake McQuade who accidentally eats a jar of jelly beans that contain ingestible knowledge (IK). After eating the jelly beans, Jake becomes the smartest kid in the universe and is able to do things like solve complex math problems, quote historical facts, and explain scientific theories. However, the pills haven't been tested yet, and when people find out about Jake's new genius, they want him.

D.E.A.R. Book Club for 3-5th gr. (online)

D.E.A.R. stands for Drop Everything And Read. It was a reading practice featured in the Ramona books written by Beverly Cleary.

This Book Club is going to read Ramona & Beezus in 3 Zoom meetings.

Date: June 27, July 11, July 18 

Time: 2-3 p.m.

There will be a separate library program Movie Matinee on 7/25 2pm showing "Ramona and Beezus"
