Please join us Wednesday, July 13!

July 13, 11:15: Otter Spotter Water Safety

A special interactive story time for children age 3-8 with an adult.

In this session, the Raritan Valley YMCA staff will conduct an Otter Spotter Water Safety program which includes a story time and interactive water safety skills session.  The goal is to educate youngsters on how to react in a water emergency and reduce any fears of learning to swim.   We will also review the adult role in safety around the water and provide safety recommendations to home pool owners.   With funding provided by the USA Swimming Foundation and the CDC Pool Safely grant/Middlesex County Department of Health, the Raritan Valley YMCA is providing free community workshops throughout the county.  Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children age 1-4, and the second leading cause for age 1-14. Take a proactive role in preventing drowning in your home and community!

July 13, 1:30: Reach, Throw, Never Go!

This interactive session about water safety is for tweens and teens entering grades 4-8.

Join YMCA staff as we work to prepare children and adults to be safer around bodies of water with an interactive, engaging program.  Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children age 1-4, and the second leading cause for age 1-14. The event goal is to address child drowning by teaching water safety skills that could ultimately save lives.  With funding provided by the USA Swimming Foundation and the CDC Pool Safely grant/Middlesex County Department of Health, the Raritan Valley YMCA is providing free community workshops throughout the county.  Many families lack the knowledge and ability to react in a water emergency - don't get caught underwater!
