World Braille Day

Jan 4 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm
Are you struggling to read traditional print? Then you may qualify to borrow books from the New Jersey State Library Talking Book & Braille Center (TBBC)! TBBC provides services and accessible books (audiobooks and braille) to New Jersey residents who are low vision, have reading disabilities, or cannot hold a book or turn the pages.
TBBC will discuss our audiobooks and braille materials, and provide an overview of the services available to those who are blind or print disabled. Learn about eligibility and how to apply! Find out what’s available at TBBC, including equipment for reading audiobooks and braille! Try out our Mobile App for listening to audiobooks! Discover how many newspapers and magazines are available in audio!

About our presenters:

Liz Kelly is the Adult Services Librarian at the NJ State Library Talking Book & Braille Center (TBBC). Through her work with TBBC, Liz has had the opportunity to speak about services for the blind and print disabled at conferences, health resource fairs, and local public libraries all over the state of New Jersey. On her days off, Liz likes camping, swimming, and hanging out with her cats. Her email is lkelly@njstatelib.org.

Jennifer Apgar is the Youth Services Librarian at the NJ State Library Talking Book & Braille Center (TBBC) in Trenton. Jen has worked at TBBC for over 14 years and is passionate about providing accessible and inclusive library services to any New Jersey resident with a print disability, but in particular for children and teens. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, experiencing life through the eyes of her toddler, and relaxing at the beach. Her email is japgar@njstatelib.org.
