Young Writer's Group (Gr. 8-12)
For aspiring writers of all genres - poets, songwriters, lyricists, fiction, non-fiction, short stories, and more! Facilitated by TAG volunteer Myer, the Young Writer's Group meets once a month on the second Wednesday from 6:30-8 pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring your writing implements of choice (pen/pencil and paper, laptop, etc) as well as whatever writing project you've been working on recently!
Meetings will include a different group activity every month, such as timed writing challenges, blackout poetry, and more, and will always leave time at the end for writers to share excerpts of their work. You have the choice of requesting only positive feedback, only constructive feedback, or a mix of both! Together, participants will hone their craft, encourage and inspire each other, and share tips and tricks on submitting work to literary magazines and publishers.
As part of this writing group, teens will also have the chance to submit original work to the monthly teen newsletter to be featured alongside teen book reviews and volunteering news!
