Results of the Unity for Immunity Survey Are In!

On behalf of Mayor Brad Cohen, the East Brunswick Advisory Health Council, and the East Brunswick Public Library, we extend our appreciation to the many residents who answered the Covid-19 UNITY FOR IMMUNITY survey. The survey helped us understand your questions and concerns toward the vaccine.

We are happy to share that out of 1635 respondents, 84.46% are ‘very willing’ to receive the vaccine, higher than the national average of 60%.   We also learned that many residents fear potential side effects of the vaccine and expressed a need for more information. You spoke and we listened.

The library’s team of specially trained consumer health librarians are offering a research service for anyone who needs more information about the Covid-19 vaccine. Librarians will research answers to your questions about the vaccine such as side effects, vaccine safety, how vaccines work, or the vaccine scheduling process. They will select information at your reading level and in your native language. Librarians can provide vaccine information in languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Urdu, and Spanish. Librarians will also send a link to the library program “Let’s Talk About Vaccines” that features Dr. XinQi Dong, Director of the Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research.

Librarians will send information to you by email or through the U.S. mail. This service is free to anyone who needs it. You can reach a librarian at 732-390-6767 or online at www.justforthehealthofit.org/ask-a-librarian.

We believe that healthy communities start with every person having the necessary information to make informed decisions for themselves and their loved ones.
