Description: In this new program, Edward Mendlowitz, CPA discusses how over 20 famous and well-known businesses and tangible investments were valued and why many values are illusions. Included will be Michael Jackson’s music library, the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees and NY Mets, Elaine’s famous restaurant, the Sharper Image mall chain, K-Mart, the Empire State Building, car dealerships, the Fox TV Network, World Wrestling Entertainment, Taylor Swift and Elvis Presley, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’ estate, a Rembrandt that catapulted the Met Museum and many Impressionist paintings that had no buyers, as well as other well-recognized businesses and nonfinancial investments where the values were ephemeral.
Presenter: Edward Mendlowitz, CPA, is emeritus partner at WithumSmith+Brown, PC and is one of Accounting Today’s 100 Most Influential People. Ed has written 30 books, over 1500 articles and blogs and presented over 350 speeches to accountants and general audiences. He is a licensed certified public accountant and is accredited by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in business valuation and as a personal financial specialist (PFS). He teaches courses on financial analysis and managerial accounting at FDU and Baruch College.
