A Wishful Whisper

A Wishful Whisper by Komal Mehra (A Short Story Contest entry) 

She was sitting forlorn, moving to and fro on her rocking chair. With a desperate heart and a face, pale and gloomy, she closed her anxious eyes. Tenderly folding her wrinkled hands, she thoughtfully whispered a wish. Soon, she heard some soft, familiar steps and a cheerful voice whispered in her ears “Happy Mother’s Day Mom!”

With a delightful heart and glistening eyes, she spread her loving arms to embrace her doting daughter!
