2024 NATIONAL MEDAL
for Museum and Library Service Finalist

18+ Short Story Competition Ends Monday

We are excited to announce the return of our popular annual short story contest in celebration of National Short Story Month.

Adults ages 18 and older can submit their work by clicking here.

The “73 Words in the 732” contest seeks original short stories written by adults that contain seventy-three words or fewer. Stories can be on any theme or topic, and a panel of library staff will select the best short stories, which will appear on the library’s website.

“Many people are afraid to write because they think they have to write a novel. 73 Words in the 732 gives the opportunity to share a short story and ignite creativity,” says Melissa Hozik, Adult Programming Librarian.

Adults ages 18 and older are welcome to participate and East Brunswick residency is not required. Contributors must submit their stories online through the library’s website at at the link above by May 27.

Enjoy the submissions here.
