Writing Fiction and Non-Fiction at the Same Time: Hacking the Creative Writing Process (Hybrid)

Nov 9 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

This event is funded by the EB Friends of the Library and co-spnonsored by the New Brunswick Public Library.

Join us for a book talk from Michael Aaron Rockland.  He is the author of sixteen books, five of which have received special recognition and prizes.  A book he co-wrote, Looking for America on the New Jersey Turnpike, was chosen by the New Jersey State Library as one of the "Ten Best Books Ever Written on New Jersey or by a New Jerseyan." His first book, Sarmiento's Travels in the United States in 1847, was chosen by The Washington Post's Book World as one of the "Fifty Best Books of the Year." His novel, A Bliss Case, was a New York Times "Notable Book of the Year."

Professor Rockland will discuss his works, along with a flexible creative process that motivates him to write in different genres at the same time. In recognition of National Novel Writing Month, this talk will focus on Rockland's books and the creative process with the hope of sparking imagination and inspiration. Join us in person or on Zoom via the link listed below.  This event is being co-sponsored by the New Brunswick Free Public Library.

Rockland is a professor of American Studies Emeritus at Rutgers University.  He has won seven major teaching/lecturing awards, including the National Teaching Award in American Studies. He has lectured in some twenty-three countries around the world. Rockland is a regular contributor to New Jersey Monthly magazine and is often interviewed on N.P.R.
