Alyson Chananie, MS, CCC-SLP will discuss what Parkinson's disease is, how it is diagnosed and treated, myths and misconceptions, and the difference between Parkinson's disease and essential tremor.
Alyson Chananie, M.S., CCC-SLP is a Speech Language Pathologist-Clinical Consultant at Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute in Edison, NJ. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ramapo College of New Jersey in psychology with a specialty in elementary education and received her Masters of Science degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences from William Paterson University. Alyson has had the pleasure of working at JFK since 2014 where she has and continues to facilitate rehabilitation of speech, language, voice, cognitive, and swallow functioning in adults and children. Alyson is a certified SPEAK OUT! ® and Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) LOUD® clinician. She leads weekly speech exercise groups (LOUD Crowd®) and directs the ParkinSINGS; a choir for people with Parkinson’s disease and Parkinson-plus syndromes. She also serves on the Parkinson’s planning committee at JFK and has been a member of the Moving Day New Jersey Committee for the past three years.
