Option Green: The Lower Raritan Watershed: History, Health, and Future (Zoom)
In this presentation Heather Fenyk, Ph.D will discuss the history of the Lower Raritan Watershed from indigenous to colonial and industrial development to its current status, provide a snapshot overview of the health of the streams and tributaries that feed into the Raritan River, the history of the pollutants in the river and how cleanup has evolved.
She will also provide information on how citizens can help restore our waterways through environmental stewardship and citizen science.
Heather Fenyk, PhD, AICP/PP is Founding Principal of Global Metrics, LLC, an urban planning firm based in New Brunswick. She is also Founder and President of the Lower Raritan Watershed Partnership (LRWP), New Jersey’s newest watershed association. Heather believes the most enduring solutions to difficult societal problems are best addressed through community engagement and collaboration of diverse partners.
