Living with Arthritis: Non-Surgical Approaches to Hip and Knee Degenerative Disease

In this presentation, Elizabeth Bedara, PT, DPT of Hackensack Meridian Health will cover:

  • Osteoarthritis and its risk factors
  • Introduction to pharmacologic interventions for OA and brief discussion of current research
  • Exploring non-pharmacologic interventions for OA and brief discussion of current research
  • Understanding musculoskeletal abnormalities that can contribute to OA
  • Identify goals of physical therapy interventions
  • List common physical therapy exercises that help improve function

 

Elizabeth Bedara, DPT, MS, ATC is the manager of rehabilitation services (PT, OT, SLP, EMG) at Hackensack Meridian Health at Raritan Bay Medical Center. She also continues to treat patients both in outpatient settings and within the acute care hospital environment. Dr. Bedara received her doctorate of physical therapy at Quinnipiac University, where she also received her degree in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine. She began at RBMC in 2012 as an acute care PT where she found she was able to make the most impact in people’s lives. Dr. Bedara is committed to lifelong learning and returned to school to receive her master’s in healthcare administration and has managed her department for the past 6 years. She loves to learn and share this knowledge to empower patients, students and colleagues. She has 2 wonderful children Emma (7) & James (4). In her spare time,  she enjoys spending time with them in the outdoors.
