Fisherman's Friends
UK. 2020. 112 minutes. Rated PG-13
A cynical London music executive on holiday in Cornwall tries to sign a group of shanty-singing fishermen to his label. He becomes the ultimate fish out of water as he struggles to gain the respect of the unlikely boy band and their families, who value friendship and community over fame and fortune. As he is drawn deeper into the traditional way of life, he is forced to re-evaluate his own integrity and ultimately question what success really means. This heartwarming comedy was inspired by a true story about a group of Cornish fishermen from Port Isaac who achieved a top 10 hit with their debut album.
