Date with Death Club

Sep 18 - 10:00am to 12:15pm

Created by Karen G. Johnston, Date with Death Club (DwDC) explores mortality in community.  DwDC is an opportunity to learn, share, and deepen your own understanding of what death means to you and how you want to approach death -- particularly your own.

A non-dogmatic exploration of our mortality in community, ranging from philosophical to spiritual, humorous to informational. DwDC provides a safe and brave space to explore the taboo topic of our mortality and the possibility of living a more awake life by facing the reality of our death. Overall, sessions provide concrete information (such as creating Advanced Directives or writing your own obituary) and the chance to deepen your self-awareness and strengthen your emotional resilience.

This session will be Getting Comfortable with Death Talk.  Death has become hidden, making it harder for us to come to terms with the reality of it. It hasn’t always been this way. The modern Death Positivity movement creates ways for those who want to the chance to talk openly about mortality. We’ll explore how the Date with Death Club provides a chance to grow our comfort zone.

DwDC is not a bereavement or grief support group. While it may be healing of the human condition, the nature of the DwDC is not specifically therapeutic. All are welcome to join, you do not have to register beforehand.
