Beach Nesting Birds: The Birds of Summer (Hybrid)

Jul 13 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

This presentation will explore the unique biology and behavior of New Jersey's beach nesting shorebirds, including piping plover, least tern, blackskimmers, and American oystercatchers. You will hear about the challenges faced by biologists in trying to protect endangered species on our state's busy tourist-filled beaches, as well as learning about the latest management strategies being implemented and the progress being made towards recovery.

This hybrid program will be held in-person at the East Brunswick Public Library and virtually on Zoom, no registration required. Instructions to connect via Zoom are listed below.

Todd Pover is a Senior Wildlife Biologist for the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey. He has been involved in the research and management of beach nesting birds, in particular piping plover, in New Jersey and other portions of the flyway for 30 years. He is a graduate of Rutgers University.
