Proper evaluation and understanding the treatment measures of the various developmental disabilities are key to success in the child who may be struggling academically. This presentation will provide a brief overview of unrecognized developmental disabilities in children that may impact their academic performance and how a parent can be proactive to help their child.

Dr. Naveen Mehrotra, a board certified pediatrician in private practice and an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at Rutgers – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Rutgers School of Public Health, is the founder and medical director of My Whole Child Pediatrics, a multi-physician multi-location pediatric practice serving the needs of the communities since 2000. Dr. Mehrotra has a special interest in child development and early Intervention and believes that there is nothing more important than the growth and well-being of children as the health of the child is the center of family dynamics. His practice philosophy utilizes his interest in complementary and alternative medicine to bring an integrated approach to improving a child's health.

Practicing in Central New Jersey, Dr. Mehrotra is dedicated to improving the health of all but especially those who have recently immigrated to this country. With his philanthropic approach and a lack of awareness in areas such as disease prevention and management within the community, Dr. Mehrotra helped found the SKN Foundation, a community based non-profit organization to improve the well-being at a grassroots level. Free Service programs such as SKN SCOPE (Special Need Community Outreach Program for Empowerment (SCOPE) that empower families with children of Special Needs by bringing them together for social and educational events.; and “Move it to Lose it” which utilizes ethnic dance forms to motivate children to increase physical activity for obesity prevention are his way of giving back to the community. His desire to help others, took him across the world to Delhi, India where he has created the My Whole Child Center for Special Needs to educate the locals about child development and serve the indigent population by providing free therapeutic services for their special needs child..
