Upcycling Workshop

East Brunswick Public Library teams up with Project Rise (a Dawoodi Bohra Initiative) and New Jersey Assemblyman Sterley S. Stanley for an upcycling workshop at the library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive) on Saturday, May 4 at 1:00 pm.

Upcycling is a simple yet powerful concept that can bring about positive change for the environment. It is the process of transforming old or discarded items into new and useful things, rather than throwing them away. In 2023, the state of New Jersey passed a resolution that names April 16 as the state's official "Upcycling Day."

At this event, the community will have an opportunity to make some uncycled creations. Attendees are asked to bring a plastic water bottle (20 oz.), a plastic soda bottle (2 liter), or a gallon plastic water/milk jug. The schedule is as follows:

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm: Upcycling Workshop
2:30 pm: Optional information session

3:30 pm: Refreshments

There will also be an information session about upcycling projects you can do at home and light refreshments. The all-ages event is free and open to the public; registration is not required.
