Presenter is YA author, Sara Fujimura

Itadakimasu Cooking Demo:

“Can you make a package of instant ramen on the stove? Can you make brownies from a box mix? Can you cut up a carrot without losing a finger? Then you can make this whole meal.” The skills in this workshop are compoundable, and she will suggest how they can take the leftovers and make them into other common Japanese dishes. Not to mention the bragging rights because it looks so impressive (but it’s so easy!). She will talk them through the downloadable recipes with my PowerPoint but mix in cultural tidbits to keep it entertaining. Like: Most Japanese people still don’t have a standard-sized oven. What’s the difference between ocha and matcha? Things that you should NEVER do with your chopsticks.

All participants will receive the recipes before the zoom meeting, so they can cook along with the presenter.

This program was paid for by the wonderful Friends of the East Brunswick Public Library
